What do you call a collective of artists? Well, here at The Mill Castlemaine, we call it the Drying Shed Artist Space.
Housed in the former drying room of the woollen mill, the DSAS is an evolving and vibrant creative space displaying the artists’ diverse artworks, and where regular featured exhibitions are held.
The current featured exhibition is Painting Exploration by Michelle Thompson, who creates works in acrylic that explore colour and shape.
“It’s an exploration of colour and shape. Taking inspiration from the found colour works by renowned Australian Artist, Aida Tomescu, the works were created on recycled canvases using a palette knife and a limited array of colour to explore the possibilities of colour and shape,” says Michelle.
Michelle is also a photographer and has exhibited at the Ballarat International Foto Biennale for a number of years.
A selection of framed prints is also on show and available for purchase.
Visit The Drying Shed Artist Space from Thursday to Sunday between 11am to 3pm to view the artworks and to chat with that artists in residence.
