Huzzah! The Castlemaine Vintage Bazaar just celebrated its 8th birthday in style.
Since opening its doors in May 2016, the Bazaar has become a beloved local spot with over 150 stallholders. These folks aren’t just from Castlemaine—they travel from Melbourne, Bendigo, and Echuca, hunting down treasures from garage sales, op shops, and even the nooks and crannies of their friends’ and family’s places.
What makes the Bazaar extra special is its commitment to a circular economy.
What’s that, you ask? Well, it’s a clever way of doing things where we try to minimize waste and make the most of what we’ve got. Instead of the old “take-make-dispose” routine, we focus on keeping things in use as long as possible and squeezing every bit of value out of them.
Why does this matter? It means we’re recycling, reusing, and repurposing stuff like champions, which not only cuts down on the need for new stuff but also saves us all a few dollars in the long run.
Plus, it’s not just about the goods—it’s about the community.
Our stallholders aren’t just sellers; they’re part of the fabric of Castlemaine. They spend time in the shop, chatting with visitors, sharing stories, and making connections that strengthen our town’s spirit.
So, next time you swing by the Bazaar, know you’re not just shopping—you’re joining a movement that’s all about sustainability, savings, and building a tighter-knit community.
Cheers to that!
The Castlemaine Vintage Bazaar is open 7 days a week, from 10am to 5pm (closed Christmas Day).
